Canadian Election Debate 2011
I literally searched 10 minutes to find this information. Seems the TV ‘consortium’ networks (or Elections Canada) need to improve their SEO. So, when is the 2011 Canadian Election Debate?
» English Debate: Tuesday April 12th @ 7pm (until 9pm) Eastern Time – on CBC, CTV, Global (possibly others as well).
» French Debate:
Thursday April 14thWednesday April 13th @ 8pm (until 10pm) Eastern Time.
The debate will have Harper (Conservative Party), Ignatieff (Liberal Party), Layton (New Democratic Party), Duceppe (Bloc Quebecois) all face off. The English language debate will be moderated by TV Ontario host Steve Paikin.

The French language debate has now been moved to Wednesday to avoid a conflict with the Montreal NHL opening playoff game.

What moron(s) dicided the debate is not important for people in the Pacific, Mountain, and Central time zones?
7pm Eastern time = 4pm Pacific time, 5pm Mountain time, 6pm Central time.
If the debate took place at 4pm Eastern time, could you imagine the outcries from the people in Ontario?
How come the media has not made an outcry on behalf of the people in the west with regard to this slighting?
Yes, I know there are things such as pvr’s, or vcr’s; but, this would never be accepted by the people, and media, of Ontario or Quebec!
The debate could have been at 9pm Eastern time so as to accommodate the people in the west. They moved the time/date of the french language debate to accommodate those who wanted to watch a hockey game!
Just one more reason why the west needs to separate!!!!
Thanks for posting this. How ridiculous is it that no major websites or commercials are advertising the time of such a critical debate….tsk tsk.
I guess some people think Newfoundlanders are not as Canadian as those out west. A 9pm EST start means the debate would end at 00:30 the next morning in NL. West, feel free to separate.
Does anyone know if they’ll be streaming this?
I can that understand that the debate is run at 7pm est however why is it not being re-run at 7pm in the West?
Could someone please tell Prime Minister Harper that it is not impressive to direct all of his comments to the television camera and not to the people he is debating.
